Because every single story you read where one of the main characters self harm or have an eating disorder, someone always comes in and makes them promise not to cut themselves or starve themselves and make themselves throw up and tells them how wonderful they are and how they’ll love them enough “for the both of them”, when really it’s nothing like that in reality. And yes I understand that it’s FICTION but there are a lot of impressionable and gullible people who will read it and think that their own personal savior will walk through their front door and whisk every trace of their problem away
